What’s in a Breath?

Bird on twig fulfilling its purpose, so can I!

What’s in a breath? God’s Breath!

Genesis 2:7: And the LORD GOD formed man of the dust of the ground, and breathed into his nostrils the breath of life; and man became a living soul.

“Breathed into” from the Hebrew word naphach which means to blow hard, a gust, to kindle, to inflate. “Breath” from the Hebrew word neshamah meaning a puff, wind, vital breath, divine inspiration, intellect, a blast. “Life” from the Hebrew word chay meaning alive, fresh, life, quicken.

So, our Abba, who does all things well, breathed into us our purpose! By His breath, we are sustained.

I am more than just dust of the ground.

The question is: What am I doing with God’s breath of Life?

My breath does not belong to me. It was given to me by God. So every breath I breathe, make it count. Do not waste my breath on being angry, being lazy and unproductive or in being unkind.

Each breath, each moment will be used to lift up the name of Jesus, in praise and worship, in spirit & in truth. I do not care who may be watching or listening.

Each breath I will use to speak a kind word, give a hug, offer a smile, feed the hungry, listen to others, visit the sick or those in prison. Read to a child. Pray for others. The list is endless.

If somewhere along the way, I lose sight of my Purpose, I go back to the Word of God and recall that I have a helper, the Holy Spirit who leads and guides me into all truth.

John 20:21-22: Then said Jesus to them again, Peace be unto you: as my Father hath sent me, even so send I you. And when He had said this, He breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost.

Wow!

When Jesus breathed on the disciples, this was more than CPR, more than mouth-to-mouth resuscitation. He had given a mandate to go into all the world and share the Good News that God had redeemed humanity from the wages of sin and death, delivered humanity from darkness, fear and separation from our Heavenly Father, no longer a planet of orphans. But they had to first wait in Jerusalem to be endowed with power from on high, burning with more than just embers but with the baptism of fire!

Share the gospel everywhere we go, in every ethnos.

A mighty Rushing Wind with sounds of heaven, forever shifting the atmosphere and stratosphere having the keys of heaven with authority in Jesus’ Name to set captives free for those who want it.

The Wind is alive, refreshing, restoring vitality!

God is the air I breathe, my breath of life.

Let everything that has breath, praise the Lord! If the bird can praise Him, so can I!
