Is God Color Blind?

Is God Color Blind? – Wednesday, November 3, 2021

I have heard it said one too many times by some people that they are color blind. This is often stated to avoid controversial conversation concerning race and racism. (Sidebar: I never resist an opportunity to use alliteration. It’s the poet in me.)

Or, they may say that they are color blind (not influenced by racial prejudice) as an attempt to excuse bad behavior, rotten rhetoric void of sincerity and preposterous predilection towards someone who is perceived as different, and therefore inferior.

That got me to thinking and a question arose in my mind:

Is God Color Blind?

Though others may disagree with me and I am okay with that, I say emphatically that God is definitely not color blind! No way.

We are made in His Image and Likeness, no two people are alike, not even twins (of which I am one). Our fingerprints differ, so do our footprints and especially our voice prints. Like a mother whose ear is fine tuned to the myriad of sounds coming from each child, God is able also to discern like that mother which child it is, as well as to deduce the exact meaning of the sound in their cries, conclude the need in that cry and then meet that need! He never misses, no miscues or blunders.

He intricately designed us with painstaking precision, every bone and marrow, sinew and muscle, tissue and tendon, color of skin, texture of hair, male or female, shape of nose, slant of eyes, width of mouth, height, weight, depth……

Ahhhh!

Psalm 139:4 I will praise thee; for I am fearfully and wonderfully made: marvellous are thy works; and that my soul knoweth right well.

Wow!

Deuteronomy 10:14 Behold, the heaven and the heaven of heavens is the Lord’s thy God, the earth also, with all that therein is.

Psalm 24:1 The earth is the Lord’s, and the fulness thereof; the world, and they that dwell therein.

So, heaven and earth and all that is in it belong to God. Not only did God fashion us and clothe us in His beauty, He created the nations. And there will come a day, when all nations, when every knee will bow and every tongue will confess Him as Lord.

Isaiah 45:23 I have sworn by myself, the word is gone out of my mouth in righteousness, and shall not return, That unto me every knee shall bow, every tongue shall swear.

Romans 14:11 For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.

Amazing, though people fight over social constructs and outer beauty, God has no issue at all with our physical features. He created all manner of trees and plant life that adorn the earth in such beautiful arrays and colors. He created all manner of ocean life and all manner of animal life.

So why not rejoice with God over the many hues of skin tones, which are His Creation? He delicately crafted us on His Potter’s Wheel.

Revelation 4:11 Thou art worthy, O Lord, to receive glory and honour and power: for thou hast created all things, and for thy pleasure they are and were created.

I will say it again: there is coming a day when we will all be gathered around the throne of God to give accountability.

Revelation 7:9-10 9 After this I beheld, and, lo, a great multitude, which no man could number, of all nations, and kindreds, and people, and tongues, stood before the throne, and before the Lamb, clothed with white robes, and palms in their hands: 10 And cried with a loud voice, saying, Salvation to our God which sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb.

How cool is that!

Yesterday, I had the wonderful opportunity to celebrate the birthday of a dear friend Robin. We were at a Greek restaurant and there were 10 of us seated at the table. We enjoyed our time together and there was lots of conversation, laughter and love. We took many pictures and of course selfies to remember this special occasion.

Revelation 7:9 was clearly evident at our table with so many nations and tongues (English, Spanish, French, Greek, Hebrew, Filipino, etc.).

I couldn’t help but imagine the table of the KING of kings!

Continent wise, I saw represented at our table people from five continents: Africa, Asia, Europe, North America, and South America. I am sure if I did deeper dive, I would find the other two continents represented as well.

If God was Color Blind, I believe He would have created us to all look the same.

So, when I see humanity, I intentionally see color. I am not blind. I see the many races and ethnicities of God’s people, His Creation. We are beautiful and that causes me to rejoice and sing and dance at each of our uniqueness.

Look What God Is Doing. See with eyes wide open!

How cool is that, How cool is our God! He is Marvelous in my eyes.

We are one people under God’s Sun.

Selah.

Giving God Glory for each person!
