Be Still in the midst of chaos because this is the season of breakthrough without limitations!

Be still, and know that I am God: I will be exalted among the heathen, I will be exalted in the earth. (Psalm 46:10)

Be still comes from the Hebrew word raphah meaning to cease, stay put, don’t move, slacken its intensity. God is telling us to be still, be at ease, don’t be easily ruffled by the contrary winds that are blowing and howling fiercely.

Raphah has its root in the the Hebrew word rapha. How awesome is that! It is the same word for Healer, the One who cures, and mends by stitching – much like a physician in the operating room who meticulously stitches and puts back together that which was broken and torn apart by the enemy or by disease.

Stand in awe, and sin not: commune with your own heart upon your bed, and be still. Selah. (Psalm 4:4)

Be still, ye inhabitants of the isle; thou whom the merchants of Zidon, that pass over the sea, have replenished. (Isaiah 23:2)

In these two scriptures, be still comes from another Hebrew word damam, meaning to be silent, hush, don’t say a word, stop, hold your peace, stand still, tarry, wait! Watch God work out His good will and purpose in you.

Wow!!

And he (Jesus) arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. (Mark 4:39)

In this final scripture, be still comes from the Greek word phimoo which means muzzle. Jesus literally commanded the winds to shut up. He put a sock in it, gagged it and prevented it from speaking or doing any harm or damage.

Are you getting this? Be still. Shhhh.

Quiet your inner being in the midst of raging seas, boisterous waves and flying debris.

Be still. Your breakthrough has arrived.

Shalom.
