The Essence (or Dignity) of a Man (Dedicated to the Homeless)

There’s something vital about each man!
Regardless of how high the heights…
(But especially) how low the levels…
Or how deep the depths…
That he finds himself,
When a dire emergency arises and it becomes inevitable
That his life be touched by another individual’s:
I’ve found that the ones authorized to perform emergency duties,
Do so with expertise.
Although they may be repulsed by the very
Sight of him…
Sound of him…
Smell of him…
They reach out, however grudgingly, and help.
In that instance, that man is important.
The essence of who he is – a human being – validates him and
Though it may be for a moment or maybe just for an hour,
In that instance, HIS LIFE COUNTS.
Ironically, this should be the case ANY day…under ANY circumstance.
For…he, too, is a man!
