Home, no place like it!

Commuting on the bus and Metro give me the wonderful opportunity to write; I love it!

6:25 am in the morning. It’s gotten mighty cold in the dirty south, about 39 degrees right now with wind chill factor….brrrrr! Makes me appreciate home even more. Wish I was still under the covers. Thankful tho’ for another day to work on my daily bread.

Despite the biting cold, the howling winds, (the freezing snow in the northeast, the falling rain in the southeast), nothing compares to a home filled with life, love & laughter. Even if that room or house is not filled with modern luxury or it may be void of furniture or void of symbols of status & success, it trumps a home void of human contact, care, compassion, concern… and the precociousness and curiosity of children & loved ones.

Sure we all desire the “finer things of life” and may even possess some of those things; nothing wrong with that.

But a home void of love, life and laughter, void of loved ones who sometimes get on your nerves, that home is only a semblance of true success, an empty shell much like that left behind by a hermit crab!

Luther Vandross sang it best. So, for your listening pleasure…
