It has been said that the Banyan Tree is mighty and when it grows, it “walks” and lives for centuries. Its roots extend down from its branches, and go down deep within the earth to spread themselves laterally for long distances.
That is the picture that comes to my mind when I reflect on the reach, the impact and the growth taking place within each of us. That is, if we allow ourselves to be the godly man or woman destined and ordained by God before the foundations of the world.
Our Abba, Father placed within each of us seeds of greatness, full of purpose, power, potential, and inevitable, unlimited possibilities of what we are to be, what we are becoming.
It behooves me, it is an imperative that I seek the Face of God, to learn of that edict, that mandate spoken by Adonai when He made Mankind in His Image and Likeness, and gave me the edict to have dominion over everything my hands touch. See Genesis 1: 26 – 30.
Dominion….
That means that before I was formed, God gave me a “kingdom” to rule for the time that I would come to be, while I live and breathe. He blessed me and said to me (like He said to both Adam and Eve):
- Be fruitful and multiply and replenish the earth and subdue it = PURPOSE
- Have dominion over the fish of the sea, fowl of the air, cattle, over ALL the earth, and over every creeping thing that creeps upon the earth = POWER
- I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of the earth, and every tree, in the which there is the fruit of a tree yielding seed: to you it shall be for meat = POTENTIAL POSSIBILITIES
All that God promised me must come to pass. It does not happen overnight; it is not completed instantly. No, there is a PROCESS.
- Psalm 1:1 – 3 (and I paraphrase): Blessed is TRACY who walks not in the counsel of the ungodly, nor does she stand in the way of sinners nor does she sit in the seat of the scornful
- But TRACY’S delight is in the law of the LORD, and in His law, she meditates day and night
- And TRACY shall be like a tree planted by the rivers of water that brings forth fruit in the right season at the right time
- TRACY’S leaves do not wither
- Whatsoever TRACY does shall prosper
To be that person that David spoke about in the above passage, I must allow the process to work in me, through me and out of me all the potential possibilities that God planted within me before I burst forth upon the scene from my mother’s womb!
It takes time. It takes many seasons of weathering different storms and weather patterns.
To walk out the blessings, I must first be planted like a seed, stay in, and bask in God’s PRESENCE, guided by His Holy Spirit, downloading instructions on how to fulfil this greatness inside of me.
To be that mighty Banyan tree that lives a life of longevity, my roots must extend down so deep in the Word of God that I am not easily moved, stirred, shaken, or uprooted by any wind or doctrine.
I am that Banyan tree that has grown and now walks in power, authority, and wisdom, because I am a carrier of the Presence of God. I have been redeemed by the precious Blood of Jesus Christ and it is He who causes me to spread my branches laterally, to impact all those whom God has assigned to me on every mountain, in every ethnos and sphere of influence and affluence for the sole purpose of expanding the KINGDOM OF GOD and adding daily those who seek Him in spirit and in truth.
Jesus said in St. John 15:5 – I am the Vine, ye are the Branches; He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without Me ye can do nothing.
So, you see, my boast is not in myself but in the Great I Am, who lives BIG in me.
