***Second dedication to the memory of Vitalis Medina (Sunrise: 1940 – Sunset: 2023)

Although I met Ma Nettie sometime after May 1984,

It was as if I had known her all of my life.

(We both worked for the Port Authority of NY & NJ at the Bus Terminal)

She had what I call a true “Mother’s Heart” –

Loving, caring and nurturing, she was my Mom too.

Vibrant…. A strong black woman.

She was charming…. She was elegance personified.

She was ….”sophistication in motion:, with a model’s confidence.

Yes, she was my Mom too.

Her smile would brighten any room and would melt even

A criminal’s hardened heart.

Her arms were always open, always ready with a

Warm embrace.

“Ma Nettie” didn’t take any nonsense,

Always ready to set you straight,

But whatever she did was always done in kindness,

She was definitely full of grace.

I told her my hopes and my dreams.

And she told me to reach for the stars…

I told her of how cruel life could be,

And she told me “Baby…. Hold on and you will go far.”

She told me to keep trusting the Lord Jesus,

She told me that He’d see me through.

She told me to hold my head up,

She was surely my mom too.

Mere words can’t express the sorrow

That we feel deeply within,

But the memory of Ma Nettie

Will live on till eternity.

Her legacy lives on in her son Marvin,

Her blood runs strong in his veins.

Her legacy lives on in her grandchildren:

Melissa, Johnny and Simeon.

Her legacy lives on in Marie,

Who, like Ruth, was a wonderful daughter-in-law.

Her legacy lives on through the lives of all who knew her –

**Ma Nettie…. She was…. She is my Mom too.

***Mother Vitalis, she was…. She is my Mom too.

**Ma Nettie transitioned in circa, Sunday, December 26, 1998 – as we were riding in the limo on the way to the cemetery, with a police escort leading the way on 12/31/1998, her granddaughter Melissa said: “Grandma is saying: “I’m free. I’m leaving this place and I’m doing it in style.”

I agree.

***Today, Tuesday, December 26, 2023 – Mother Vitalis transitioned to be with the Lord Jesua Christ! What a graduation. No more pain or suffering! Her legacy lives on in her children, grandchildren and extended family and loved ones.
